Reiki is a healing method based on energy, or hands on healing.
It uses ‘universal energy’ to help balance the body and calm the mind. It is a meditative therapy and non invasive.
Reiki is performed while you are fully clothed and reclining on a treatment table. Hands can be either placed on the body, or held slightly above your body to create a meditative deeply relaxed state with the focus upon your specific health needs.
Reiki works beautifully with Reflexology.
How long does a session last
I work with Reiki for about an hour. Depending upon your needs, a treatment may go longer or shorter.
Reiki can be combined with Reflexology. Begin or follow your Reflexology treatment with 30 minutes of Reiki.
During all treatment therapies I work with Reiki energy for you. You may notice that after a reflexology treatment it feels as if my hands are still holding your feet after the treatment has concluded. After a massage or Reiki treatment it may feel as if my hands are still gently resting upon your head or body. That’s the power of positive intention and Reiki energy for you. Even after the connection and treatment has concluded, the positive effects still remain within your cell memory and within your body.
How much Does Reiki Cost?
- Reiki treatments - 60 minutes - $70.00
- Combining Reiki with Reflexology - prices may vary depending on duration of the treatment session.
Reiki History
Dr. Usui (as in the Usui Reiki Method) is considered to be the father of Reiki as we know it today. Dr. Usui had a great understanding of how the body heals on a spiritual level. He studied the sutras written in Sanskrit and discovered a deeper knowledge of health and healing in working holistically.
He left for MountKuriyama to fast and meditate for 21 days. His aim to acquire an even deeper understanding. On the very last day he observed a flickering light which moved towards him.
The flickering light continued to move towards him and as it came closer he saw the light strike in the centre of his forehead. At that moment he had a sense of his mortality as if he was dying. He received visions, bubbles of colours, with the brilliant shades of blue and lavender tones, and the warmth of the rose colours and received visions of light and symbols.
Several things happened after Dr. Usui returned from the mountain. He seemed able to help and heal himself and others by simply holding or touching them where they felt pain. He worked with the symbols and energies he had experienced upon the mountain.
He began a life of travel instructing students in Reiki, selecting a highly advanced student Dr. Chujiro Hyashi, to continue the Reiki tradition by passing it down to others using Dr. Usui’s method. Dr. Usui had his own Reiki clinic in Tokyo until 1940.
Reiki has existed in one form or another in many ancient cultures as a form of healing with touch. Many cultures believed in the power of touch and light energy as life giving akin to the divine. There are many who have ‘healing hands’ or a natural connection to helping and healing others.
Symbols
Symbols are part of Reiki tradition and healing. The symbols have meanings and assist with focusing healing during a treatment.
Acquiring Reiki
Reiki is passed down in the traditional form. Some attend large group Reiki attunements. I was fortunate enough to learn in a group of only two, so I had one on one with my teacher. This was a powerful and wonderful experience.
Different Types of Reiki
Reiki can be performed by one practitioner in a treatment session. Reiki can also be preformed by a group of practitioners working on one person, which is a powerful vibration.
Reiki can also be sent ‘by distance’ much the same way we send prayer and helpful blessings to others. Reiki sends heartfelt energy to people near and far. Much the same way you might say to someone "You are in my thoughts"
Reiki in my opinion is a very deep and universal energy that works from the heart outwards. When done with pure intention it can be profound.
